Libya’s oil output plummets amid continuing conflict

 

Libya’s oil industry, which prior to the uprising was churning out around two per cent of global oil output, has been crippled by the unrest.

Government forces are battling with rebels for control of over the oil infrastructure.

On Thursday, Muammar Gaddafi’s loyalists forced rebels into retreat from the Ras Lanouf oil port.
